Much is been talked about Nostradamus, the famous future teller, a French who lived between 1503-1566. He had written sentences called 'quatrains' (just like Shlokamulu in Sanskritham) which
contain his assessment of the future events that he thinks will
happen in the world. During the time he lived in France,
because of the 'gift' he possessed in predicting the
future events, sometimes he feared for his life from a certain
section of French Society, who were Religious Fanatics. Some
people even considered his taking birth on the earth as a 'shame'.
I think it would be inappropriate for me to judge whether whatever prophesies he mentioned in his 'quatrains', will prove right or wrong. Some people believe that he is a genuine predictor of the future events and some people don't. And according to various articles written on the internet, around 800 prophesies that he predicted ... have in fact happened. Although some of the prophesies he predicted have not happened, till now.
I consider myself inadequate to understand and judge a personality like Nostradamus, who some people call as a seer, whose tongue always speaks truth.
In India, we have had many Sadhujan, who lived in different time periods which we find in the History of Indian Civilization. Some of these Sadhujan become Dharma Guruvulu and they were (and still are) the guiding force for the Bharathiya Aam Aadmi. India has many Dharma Guruvulu and they have their own Bhakthajan.
To name a few, we have Dharma Guruvulu
like Sri Sai Samarth of Shirdi, Sri Raghavendra Swami, Akkalkot
Maharaj, Swami Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda, Sri Guru
Gobind Sahib, and various other Muslim Sadhujan who have their own following, their followers truly adore and follow them. There is a relation of a Dharma Guruvu and his/her Shishyajan/Bhakthajan ... which we understand by what is called the Guru Shishya Parampara mentioned in the holy Dharma Granthamulu of the Hindu Dharma.
Now coming to the point ... what sets India apart from other countries is that, in India a follower of one Dharma Guruvu 'does not' criticize the Dharma Guruvu of another person/people/community.
Hence even if i don't know the characteristics
of any person whom other people call their Dharma Guruvu ... i don't
question and criticize that revered personality. This is what India is all about and this is what makes it the darling of the lord.
We Indians never deviate from the path rendered to us by our respective Dharma Guruvulu and we dont involve ourselves with any other person's activities. We call this Karma Bhumi
and we believe that our actions determines our future. That is why
Indian Civilization has been successful in living its huge history and
is the Oldest Civilization in the World.
I am of the view that ... Prophesies can only be believed once they Materialize ... In any case, they are just Predictions.
No matter whether the Prophesies of Nostradamus will materialize or not, the fact that he has written some 'quatrains' and there are some people who consider him as a Seer, means he is a revered personality and hence he has my respects.
In any case, i always believe in destiny and Bhagavan. And i know that Bhagavan always has his own way and his Dharma Guruvulu if genuine will follow Bhagavan Vachanam and lead us.
Hence,
whatever one may say, if events in the world are destined to happen,
then they will surely happen and no body will be able to stop them from
happening. And also, no body can make things that are not destined to
happen, happen.
Vamsinath.
